Yes, the capital letter of 'i' on my laptop looks identical to the small 'l' (not a capital 'L'). So, all mentions of AI in this post do not refer to my brother, but to Artificial Intelligence.

As I am typing this, it seems that the problem with the 'I' and 'l' is not a problem if I use the proper font.

The following is a quote from my computer, possibly a confession by AI itself:

"However, using AI carries with it the risk of algorithmic bias. Unless we fully understand and address this risk, the promise of AI will be hollow. Algorithmic bias is a kind of error associated with the use of AI in decision making, and often results in unfairness. Algorithmic bias can arise in many ways."

Yet, it can go way beyond a bias ...likely depending on what AI source one is using. And I also got the following from my laptop:

"Number of AI Companies in 2024According to the latest available data, there are around 67,200 artificial intelligence companies. A large percentage of AI companies and startups are based in the United States (approximately 25%). Since 2017, the number of US AI companies has more than doubled."

So, though there can be some useful data one can obtain, there is also much potential to mislead. Life is full of the 'good and the bad' of everything ...or the good use of things and the misuse of those same things.

(Oops ...went back to my preferred font again, but I'm going back to the other 'font' now.) So, what I was about to say, is ...artificial intelligence can be much like artificial flowers, as in 'fake', or more accurately 'not real'. And AI can get to the point that its use is so common ---and it is utilized so often---that it can not be given a second thought, and perhaps be readily accepted.

And continuing with the flower example, some people may prefer artificial flowers because they don't require much care and they look relatively the same at all times ...and usually they are created with many beautiful blossoms. So, why don't we just replace all real flowers with artificial ones??

Well, let me list some reasons why we shouldn't do that. First of all, we would be not just replacing all flowers, but also the plants that the flowers grow on. And by replacing all the plants and flowers, there'd be no fruit. And also with no real plants, there'd be no production of oxygen ...so, we wouldn't be able to breathe.

You may think I'm over-dramatizing this a bit (my family says I do this often), but the point of exaggerating a point is to make a point ...pointing out that the opposing point of view makes no sense to me, and also pointing out that it shouldn't make sense to you either.

Artificial flowers are fine for a grave site ...or perhaps for decorative purposes in a home, place of employment, a restaurant, or a church. But, I personally don't want artificial truth ...nor do I think it is healthy for you either. Biases are always present and will likely never cease to exist, and though they can be very unhealthy ...if they remain within the status or category of 'opinion', it may be a hurtful opinion, but it is still an opinion. Yet, if opinions are elevated to that status of most accurate opinion or 'fact' ...then that is rather concerning to me.

And that being said, AI may claim their intent is good, and it may be generate some excitement with its advancement and technological progression, yet I do believe that most people will eventually not view it for what it is and will begin to accept it more than it should be. You could say that is not the fault of AI if that happens, yet I do happen to wonder how all these intelligent people cannot perceive this potentially happening.

And in fairness, many people have voiced there concerns about these very issues. So, it is not mass ignorance ...but seems to be 'planned ignoring', in the form of an ideal that 'the end justifies the means', or perhaps 'the advantages outweigh the disadvantages'. And the advantages themselves are often listed with a bias, or are the disadvantages. How one views an advantage or 'progress' is influenced by what each of our individual minds perceive as having a higher value in life ...and how we perceive life itself.

(And much can be said on that note also, but for now, I am going to water my real plants ...AI is not going to do it for me. I could program a reminder to water my plants, but I already have a healthy routine which includes taking care of living things (including myself, family, and friends) ...and I feel good that I am not going about my life with a regiment response to robotic reminders as if it's a chore, instead of a delight.)
